“Real Niggaz Don’t Die” by N.W.A from Niggaz4life [1991]
Switching gears just a bit from Bach’s Magnificat… I give you Los Angeles on the eve of the Rodney King beating. N.W.A wrapped up recording in March of ‘91, the same month the beating occurred and made national headlines. Needless to say, when Niggaz4life hit the shelves in May, it found a large and eager audience. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and quickly rose to #1.
